22-Year-Old Woman Who Died in Staffordshire Moorlands Car Crash Formally Named by Police

A YOUNG woman who died after a car hit a dry stone wall in the Staffordshire Moorlands has been formally named by police.

Amy Louise Savage was a passenger in the red VW Passat, which overturned at around 7.05am yesterday on the B5053 Bottom Lane at the junction with Blakelow Road and Fairview Road.

Paramedics and two air ambulances attended the scene, but they were unable to save her and the 22-year-old, from the Cheddleton area, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “Specialist officers are supporting her family at this time.

“A 30-year-old man from the Biddulph area was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital where he was admitted and treated for chest injuries. His condition is described as stable at this time.

“The 26-year-old male driver from the Leek area was arrested at the scene having provided a positive breath test. He has been released pending further enquiries.

“The Passat is believed to have travelled along Blakelow Road to the junction with the B5053 Bottom Lane.

“Anyone who saw the red VW Passat in the area – or witnessed the actual collision itself – is asked to call us on 101, quoting incident 192 of July 2.”
