Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Causing Death By Dangerous Driving After Amy Savage Died In Crash

Police investigating a crash which killed a 22-year-old woman have now arrested a man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Officers initially arrested the 26-year-old man – who has not been named but lives in Leek – after he ‘provided a positive breath test’ following this month’s fatal collision.

He has now been held on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and released by police ‘under investigation’.

Amy Savage, of Cheddleton, was travelling in the back of a red VW Passat when it smashed into a wall and overturned on the B5053 Bottom Lane, at Onecote, near Leek, in the early hours of July 2. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 30-year-old front-seat passenger was airlifted to the Royal Stoke University Hospital after suffering chest injuries. He has since been discharged from hospital and is being cared for at his Biddulph home.

An online fund-raising appeal set up following Amy’s death has so far raised more than £4,500.
