Boots stores across North Staffordshire are being investigated following a “most difficult quarter”, The U.S owned company has stores in Hanley, Leek, Festival Park, Tunstall, Newcastle, Longton, Bentilee, Stone, Stafford, Congleton, Sandbach, Crewe and Cheadle
Reporting that it was taking “Decisive steps to reduce costs in the UK” It has thrown the survival of the local stores into doubt.
Boots last night added that stores are currently being reviewed with the focus on poor performing shops as well ‘opportunities for consolidation’
This follows previous statements from the company explaining that 350 were at risk at the Nottinghamshire based Headquarters. Reshuffling occurring across the country with closures in Hull also reported.
Boots main high street rivals are Superdrug, which subsequently changed to Savers on the Cheadle high street earlier this year.
