Travel Writer Of The Year Award For Local Adventurer
Captain Lev Wood receives acclaim at Stanford Literary and Travel Show

AN explorer from Forsbrook, who’s televised expeditions have resulted in Lev Wood with Michael Palin his meteoric rise to fame, has now received a coveted award for a book he penned on his return from the Himalayas. Hot on the heels of the airing of his latest television documentary, ‘Walking the Americas’, which hit the small screens last month, the 34-year-old former Painsley student now has yet another achievement to add to his ever growing collection. Levison, who has produced three televised adventures alongside Channel 4, was presented with the award for Best Adventure Travel Book of the Year 2017 at a glitzy awards ceremony in London at the weekend.

During the event which was played out over several days at Olympia in London, Lev was honoured by event organisers who asked him to present a Lifetime Achievement Award to none other than Michael Patin (pictured). Lev’s parents Lev Snr. and Janice Wood of Cheadle Road, Forsbrook joined their son in London for the occasion. The couple commented: “As you can imagine we are enormously proud of what he has achieved through all his hard work. “He’s had some really good comments from fellow explorers and even well known celebs like Ronan Keeling who he has met a number of times. “This award means his book `Walking the Himalayas’ will be translated into a number of other languages and will be distributed throughout the US and Europe.” It has been intimated this week that the local wanderer is already gearing up for yet another exciting adventure, again in collaboration with Channel 4, in time for 2018. Sadly the subject matter of his next expedition is as yet under wraps, but stay tuned and we will bring more news of Lev’s forthcoming project as and when it becomes available.

At the end of this month Captain Lev Wood will commence a twenty-three date tour, recounting audiences with tales from his recent American adventure. His most local performances will be at Buxton Opera House on Tuesday 21st February. In response to popular demand and extra date has been added to the original tour schedule at the Gate House Theatre in Stafford on Wednesday 8th March.
